Hi All,
I apologize for not posting in German, unfortunately I am far than fluent in your language
I just wanted to give you all some info on the new TSP motors, maybe is useful:
I started discussing with Piotr Tendera about the possibility to have an european source of mid-power motors, easy to get, unexpensive and always readily available. Piotr has a very long experience from FAI motors and his family is running the company since decades. I askd him to make motors in the standard diameters and length we use, so 24x70 for the Ds, 24x95 for the Es, etc.
The outcome were these D20, E20 and F35. The thrust was choosen because is good for the vast majority of rockets this size, and to be a competitor of Estes D and E.
Motors are very reliable and CE certified. As distributor of TSP, I have sold hundreds of them without any malfunction report. As every pressed propellant motor, they can suffer for temperature cycling but only in the most exteme cases, like (or better) than Estes engines.
CATOs are always a possibility, albeit remote, but this is true for any motors and for Estes as well. TSP motors has been used in Spain, Italy, France, and other countries but I never heard about a CATO so far. I can comfortably say that the accident described in this thread is an exception, and should be investigated to understand better the reason behind it.
What I really like about this motors is their progression in thrust, the fact that they can be ignited with ANY iginter on the market, the possibility they give to make multi-staging without electronics, how easy it is to make a cluster and ignite it with Klima starters or Klima tapematch/Stage Igniters.
Piotr is definitely backing up his products, he listen to any suggestion and he's ready to make adjustments wherever possible. He's thinking about other motors and other thrustcurves, but it's still confidential. For sure, if the demand increase he will be more than happy to design new types.
Hope this is useful to you all. Having a domestic source of motors is something I have always dreamt of and now it's real. Hope for you is the same.
Gruss,
Stefano
